Because of / due to. Often expresses the speaker's regret or disappointment, and the following sentence usually contains a negative result.
Examples
嘘をついたばかりに、友達を失ってしまった。
Just because I lied, I lost my friend.
お金が欲しいばかりに、悪いことをしてしまった。
Because I wanted money so badly, I did something wrong.
