Meaning
Used to emphasize that something is at an extreme degree. It often follows adjectives with negative connotations (like 'rude', 'unhealthy', 'cowardly') but can also be used for positive extremes. 'Kiwamaru' is more formal and literary, while 'Kiwamarinai' is slightly more common in modern usage.
Note
Expresses that a state has reached its absolute limit or extreme. It is a highly subjective and emphatic expression. While historically used with negative words (卑怯, 失礼), it can sometimes be used with positive ones in extremely formal praise. '〜極まる' is predominantly literary/written (文章語), while '〜極まりない' can be used in spoken contexts, though it still feels very stiff and formal.
