While maintaining a state. Expresses that a state continues without changing. Used with 〜に as an adverb (e.g., 涙ながらに) or with 〜の as an adjective (e.g., 昔ながらの).
Note
Expresses that a certain condition or state remains unchanged throughout an action or situation. It often appears in fixed expressions like 'namida-nagara ni' (in tears), 'mukashi-nagara no' (traditional/as of old), or 'umare-nagara no' (innate). It is a formal, literary expression, specifically used with certain verbs or nouns to emphasize the persistence of that state. It is much more formal than the standard '〜ながら'.
