〜ことができる

Formation:

Verb(dict. form) + ことができる

Can do / be able to / possible to. Expresses ability or possibility. Negative form is 〜ことができない. Cannot be used with state verbs or intransitive verbs with non-human subjects. Only used for positive outcomes.

Examples

私は日本語を話すことができます。

I can speak Japanese.

ここで写真を撮ることができますか。

Can I take pictures here?

彼は泳ぐことができない。

He cannot swim.

インターネットで買い物をすることができます。

You can shop on the internet.

明日、来ることができますか。
