1Memory (computing) — a device or area in a computer, smartphone, or other electronic device that stores data or programs (RAM, ROM, storage, etc.). In IT writing, the long vowel is dropped to give メモリ, following the same convention as プリンタ, サーバ, コンピュータ. The longer メモリー is also accepted.

2Memory, recollection, remembrance — a person's memory of past events. In this sense the long-vowel form メモリー is almost always used; メモリ is very rarely seen (e.g., 思い出のメモリー, 夏のメモリー).
子どものころのメモリーがふとよみがえった。
A memory from my childhood suddenly came back to me.
この写真を見ると、楽しかったメモリーが蘇る。
When I look at this photo, fond memories come flooding back.
彼女と過ごした夏は、今でも大切なメモリーだ。
The summer I spent with her is still a precious memory to me.
