Gluttony or a very large appetite; the state of eating a lot. Often synonymous with 'Ōgui' (big eater), and more common in writing.

He has been a big eater since youth and finished two bowls (of rice) easily.

For health reasons, he curbed his gluttony and switched to a balanced diet.

In classical literature, gluttonous characters are sometimes depicted comically.
