〜だけに

Meaning
Used to express that because of a certain reason, status, or situation, the following result or state is even more intense or naturally expected.
Note
Highlights a direct correlation between the cause and the intensity of the result. Unlike '〜だけあって', which specifically emphasizes a well-deserved reputation or admiration, '〜だけに' is more general and can be used for both positive and negative results. Contrast with '〜ばかりに', which is used exclusively when a single cause leads to a regreful or negative outcome.

一生懸命勉強しただけに、不合格だったのは本当に残念だ。
Because I studied so hard, it's truly a pity that I failed.
駅に近いだけに、この辺りは家賃が高い。
Being close to the station, the rent in this area is expensive.
期待が大きかっただけに、負けた時のショックも大きかった。
Since the expectations were high, the shock of losing was also great.
彼は真面目なだけに、一度落ち込むとなかなか立ち直れない。
