Meaning

Expresses a strong feeling of denial or determination never to do something again. It is often used in a defiant or emphatic tone.

Note

A rhetorical question used for strong negation, disbelief, or to express a firm resolution not to do something. It conveys an emphatic 'no way!' or 'how could it be?'. The speaker often uses it to contradict someone else's statement or to strengthen their own resolve. The variant 'もんか' is very common in casual spoken language.

あんな店、二度と行くものか。サービスも悪いし、高いし。

As if I'd ever go to that shop again! The service is bad and it's expensive.

As if this problem were that difficult! I can solve it right away.

あんなに練習したんだから、暇なものか。毎日必死だったよ。

I practised so much, so as if I was free! I was desperate every day.

彼がそんなに元気なもんか。さっきまで寝込んでいたんだから。

As if he's that energetic! He was bedridden until just now.
