Indicates that after a series of events or a process, a situation has unfortunately reached a negative, troublesome, or shameful outcome.
Note
Expresses the speaker's shock, disappointment, or exasperation that a situation has escalated or deteriorated to such an extreme point. It often follows a sequence of negative developments.

In the end, he ended up quitting the company.
