1A heavily used colloquial particle/adverb with several functions: (1) giving a casual example, like a spoken version of など — 'or something, things like'; (2) dismissive/scornful — 'the likes of', as in 彼なんか ('a guy like him'); (3) self-deprecating — 私なんか ('someone like me'); (4) discourse filler/hedge meaning 'somehow, kind of, sort of' — なんか疲れた ('I'm kind of tired').
