1An entrance — the opening or doorway through which you enter a building, vehicle, venue, or other defined space. On signs and public displays it is usually written without okurigana as 入口; in running prose, the form 入り口 with okurigana is also very common. Also used figuratively, as in 「〜への入り口」, to mean a gateway or starting point into a new world, field, or experience. The opposite of 出口 (exit).
