昔々、ある所におじいさんとおばあさんがいました。おじいさんは山へ木を切りに行きました。おばあさんは川へ洗濯に行きました。
Once upon a time, in a certain place, there lived an old man and an old woman. The old man went to the mountains to cut wood. The old woman went to the river to do the laundry.
お昼になりました。おじいさんはお弁当を食べたいと思いました。でも、おにぎりが手から落ちて、穴の中へ「ころりん」と転がりました。
It became noon. The old man wanted to eat his lunch. However, a rice ball fell from his hand and rolled "kororin" into a hole.
おじいさんが穴の中を見ると、楽しそうな歌が聞こえました。「おむすびころりん、すっとんとん。」おじいさんはもっと聞きたいと思って、もう一つおにぎりを穴に入れました。
When the old man looked into the hole, he heard a happy song. "Rice ball rolling, falling down." The old man wanted to hear more, so he put another rice ball into the hole.
また可愛い歌が聞こえました。おじいさんはとても嬉しかったです。おじいさんは踊りながら、「おむすびころりん、すっとんとん」と歌いました。
He heard the cute song again. The old man was very happy. While dancing, the old man sang, "Rice ball rolling, falling down."
すると、おじいさんの足が滑って、おじいさんも穴の中に落ちてしまいました。穴の中には、たくさんのねずみがいました。ねずみたちはおじいさんに美味しいご飯を作ってくれました。
Then, the old man's foot slipped, and he also fell into the hole. Inside the hole, there were many mice. The mice made a delicious meal for the old man.
おじいさんはねずみたちとたくさん遊んだ後に、たくさんのお土産をもらって、家に帰りました。おじいさんとおばあさんは、ずっと幸せに暮らしました。
After playing a lot with the mice, the old man received many souvenirs and went home. The old man and the old woman lived happily ever after.
