Meaning
Used when someone performs an action for the speaker, expressing receiving a favor or benefit from someone.
Note
Honorific version: 〜て下さる (くださる). Use when a superior does something for you. '〜てくれませんか' is more polite and hesitant/indirect than '〜てくれますか'.

母が料理を作ってくれました。
My mother cooked for me.
