Using 2hongo in ChatGPT and Claude
Connect your 2hongo account to an AI assistant, and it can look up 2hongo's dictionary and grammar reference and, with the permissions you approve, read and update your study record while you chat.
How to connect
In Claude
- 1.Open Customize, then Connectors.
- 2.Select Add custom connector, name it 2hongo, and enter the URL https://www.2hongo.com/api/mcp.
- 3.Select Connect, sign in to your 2hongo account, and approve the permissions.
In ChatGPT
- 1.Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, select +, then Add custom MCP server.
- 2.Name it 2hongo, enter the URL https://www.2hongo.com/api/mcp, and create it.
- 3.Sign in to your 2hongo account when asked, and approve the permissions.
- 4.In a new chat, type @ and select 2hongo.
A free 2hongo account is enough to connect, and you can create one on the sign-in page while connecting. Features follow your 2hongo plan, the same as on the website.
A connection lasts 30 days. When it ends, or if you revoke it in Account Settings, the assistant can no longer reach 2hongo until you connect again the same way.
What you can allow
The assistant asks for these permissions when you connect, and can use only the ones you approve:
- •Search 2hongo's dictionary and grammar reference
- •Read your learning history — level, reviews, study plan, and progress
- •Save words, record your practice and progress, and update your study settings
- •Report errors in 2hongo's dictionary entries and quiz questions
Things to try
- •Look up 込む in 2hongo and show me its readings and a few real examples.
- •Explain 〜てしまう using 2hongo's grammar lesson.
- •How many 2hongo reviews do I have due today?
- •What's on my 2hongo study plan?
Your data
- •2hongo receives only what each request needs — such as a word to look up or a practice answer to record — and never your conversation.
- •When you agree to it, an assistant can note how you used a word or grammar pattern in Japanese you wrote. The note keeps the item and the result, never your sentence. Review and delete notes in Account Settings > Learning Profile > AI assistant activity.
- •To end a connection, revoke it in Account Settings > Sessions > Connected AI assistants. Disconnecting 2hongo in the assistant's settings does not end the connection on 2hongo. Deleting your 2hongo account ends every connection.
