Suddenly (stop, come to an end) — used when an action or sound abruptly ceases.
話がばたっと途切れて、会議は中断した。
The conversation stopped abruptly and the meeting was suspended.
彼女は笑い出したが、途中でばたっと黙ってしまった。
She started to laugh, but suddenly fell silent.
