1To place or put something on top of something else; to set it on a surface. For physically placing something on top, usually written 乗せる. A transitive verb; the intransitive counterpart is 乗る.

2To give someone a ride or lift; to pick someone up and take them in a vehicle. Often used as 乗せてあげる. Written 乗せる.

3To load luggage or cargo onto a vehicle, ship, or plane; to take it on board. For loading goods, usually written 載せる.

4To send something out over the airwaves or a network — to broadcast or transmit it, as in 電波に乗せる. Written 乗せる.

6To set a song, words, or melody to musical accompaniment or a rhythm; to carry it over the backing. Written 乗せる.
