Since last night, my head has been pounding, and it feels like I have a fever too. When I tried to get up in the morning, my body felt so heavy that I could barely drag myself out of bed. My throat hurts, I have a cough, and I have no appetite. There's no way this is just regular tiredness.
I figured I had to see a doctor, so I decided to head to a clinic in my neighborhood. I handed over my insurance card at the reception, carefully filled out a medical questionnaire about my symptoms, and then took a seat in the waiting room. There were several other patients ahead of me, and apparently a cold was going around that day — I could hear coughing from all corners of the room.
When my turn came and I went into the exam room, the doctor greeted me with a gentle smile and asked, "Hello, what brings you in today?" "Since last night my head has been hurting and I've had a fever. I've also got a cough," I explained.
