先月、新しいアパートに引っ越すことにしました。前の部屋は駅から遠くて、毎朝バスに乗ってから電車に乗り換えなければなりませんでした。雨の日はずぶ濡れになることもあるし、通勤に時間がかかりすぎていたので、思い切って引っ越そうと決めました。
Last month, I decided to move to a new apartment. My old place was far from the station, and every morning I had to take a bus and then transfer to the train. On rainy days I'd sometimes show up soaked, and the commute was eating up too much of my time, so I finally bit the bullet and decided to move.
週末に、近くの不動産屋さんに行きました。「駅から十分以内で、家賃は八万円までで探しているんですが」と言うと、店員さんがいくつか候補を見せてくれました。地図を広げて、一つひとつていねいに説明してくれて、こんなに親切なお店だとは思いませんでした。
On the weekend, I went to a real estate agency nearby. "I'm looking for something within a ten-minute walk of the station, with rent under eighty thousand yen," I said. The agent showed me a few candidates. He spread a map out on the desk and explained each one carefully — I hadn't expected this kind of shop to be so kind.
午後から、三つの部屋を見に行きました。一つ目は駅から近くて便利でしたが、台所がとても狭くて料理しにくそうでした。二つ目は広かったですが、隣の道がうるさくて夜眠れないかもしれないと思いました。三つ目のアパートが、駅から歩いて五分、日当たりもよく、家賃もちょうどよかったので、その場でここにすることにしました。
In the afternoon, I went to view three of the units. The first was conveniently close to the station, but the kitchen was very narrow and looked hard to cook in. The second was spacious, but a busy road ran right next to it and I worried I might not be able to sleep at night. The third was a five-minute walk from the station, got great sunlight, and the rent was just right — I decided on the spot to take it.
