大学に入ってから、ずっとアルバイトを始めたいと思っていました。学費は奨学金でなんとかなりますが、毎月の生活費は自分で稼げるようになりたかったからです。先週、友達に「駅前にできた新しいカフェが、アルバイトを探しているらしいよ」と教えてもらって、その日のうちに電話をかけてみました。
Ever since I started university, I'd been wanting to find a part-time job. Tuition is more or less covered by my scholarship, but I'd been hoping to start earning my monthly living expenses on my own. Last week, a friend told me, "Apparently the new café that just opened in front of the station is looking for part-timers," and I called them that same day.

The night before the interview, I couldn't fall asleep for the longest time. I'd never had a part-time job before in my life, so I had no idea what kinds of questions I might be asked. お店に着くと、入口には開店祝いの花がたくさん飾ってあって、コーヒーのいい香りもしていました。店長さんは三十代ぐらいの優しそうな男性で、「そんなに緊張しなくて大丈夫ですよ。お茶でも飲みながら、ゆっくり話しましょう」と笑顔で迎えてくれました。私の緊張も、少し軽くなりました。
When I got to the café, the entrance was lined with opening-day flowers, and the smell of coffee was wonderful. The manager was a kind-looking man in his thirties, who greeted me with a smile and said, "There's no need to be so tense. Let's have some tea and just chat." My nerves loosened up a bit.
