Requesting Budget Approval

A conversation formally requesting and justifying an increased budget.

General Manager Nakamura, I'm sorry to bother you when you're busy. I'd like to discuss the marketing budget for the coming term — do you have a moment?

Yes, I've already looked through the materials you submitted. The budget appears to have been increased considerably, though — could you walk me through the reasoning in detail?

Of course. With the intensification of market competition recently, it has become harder to deliver results with our conventional advertising methods alone. We are in a situation where we have no choice but to increase investment in online advertising in particular.

I see. Certainly, the moves our competitors are making are active too. However, if I'm to approve an amount of this size, results to match will be required. Are concrete target numbers available?

I'm very much aware of that. After implementing the new advertising strategy, we forecast year-on-year sales growth of twenty percent next term. We also plan to aim for one-and-a-half times the current new-customer acquisition count.

Isn't that twenty-percent figure merely a prediction? With the overall market cooling down, I'd like to see the concrete basis for it.

That's an entirely fair point. Going by these materials, within our industry, a company of the same scale as ours has produced 1.8x year-on-year results with a similar strategy.

I see — having that real-world example is persuasive. That said, our customer base and product lineup must differ from that company's. Do you have any guarantee that the same approach will work for us?

That's an important point. While drawing on the precedent set by the other company, we are customizing the strategy to make the most of our company's unique strengths, and I'm confident we can produce results.

Understood. After reviewing the details a bit more, I'll make a final decision. By next week, please organize the projected risks and the exit thresholds alongside the proposal, and submit it again.
