昔々、あるおじいさんの家に、年をとったロバがいました。もう重い荷物を運ぶことができなくなったため、おじいさんはロバを捨てることにしました。ロバは家を出て、「ブレーメンという町へ行って、音楽隊に入るつもりだ」と考えました。
Once upon a time, there was an old donkey living in an old man's house. Because he could no longer carry heavy loads, the old man decided to abandon the donkey. The donkey left the house and thought, "I intend to go to a town called Bremen and join a musical band."
道を歩いていると、同じように捨てられた犬、猫、そして鶏に出会いました。みんな家がなくて困っていたので、ロバと一緒にブレーメンへ行くことにしました。しかし、途中で暗くなってしまったので、彼らは森の中で泊まる場所を探し始めました。
While walking down the road, he encountered a dog, a cat, and a rooster who had been abandoned in the same way. Since everyone was troubled because they had no home, they decided to go to Bremen together with the donkey. However, it became dark on the way, so they began looking for a place to stay in the forest.
近くに明かりが見えたので行ってみると、そこは泥棒の家でした。泥棒たちが美味しいご飯を食べていたので、動物たちは一匹ずつ背中に乗って、窓から大きな声で鳴きました。泥棒たちは、恐ろしいお化けが来たと思って、急いで逃げていきました。
Since a light could be seen nearby, they went to check it out, and it turned out to be a thieves' house. Because the thieves were eating a delicious meal, the animals climbed on top of each other's backs one by one and cried out loudly from the window. The thieves thought a terrifying ghost had come and fled in a hurry.
動物たちは家の中に入って、美味しいご飯をたくさん食べました。ここはとても暖かくて安全だったので、彼らはブレーメンに行くのをやめました。そして、それからずっと四匹で仲良く暮らしたそうです。
The animals entered the house and ate plenty of the delicious food. Because it was very warm and safe there, they gave up on going to Bremen. And so, it is said that the four of them lived happily together ever after.
